I have an older Linksys router loaded with the dd-wrt software. Really seems to work great. Is there a way I can restrict programming access to this router? ideally it would be restricting it to a particular LAN port or restrict it to a specific computer IP?

I also have a Firebox SOHO. While it is a bit older, it would probably work fine as well. Can you restrict programming access to the OPT port only?

I would prefer to figure it out on the dd-wrt software as these routers are readily available and cheap. I need to get about 4 or 5 of them eventually setup for a non profit.

Another option is to use a Cicso RVS4000. I have two, but would need to purchase 2 more.

Main goal is restrict any type of programming access to these routers either by port, or by specific IP. Ideally it would be by LAN port so you would have to plug a laptop in to program, but I don't think any of these routers are that sophisticated.

Are they smart enough to know how to reset a router with a paperclip from the back?
Passwords are only so good...

true. The routers will be in a secure area, so they will be locked down physically. Thats why I was hoping to restrict access via a lan port or IP address and force a local connection inside the server room to manage it. I am probably making more of an issue than it actually is.
