We are slowly getting our home back to normal after Ivan, got the new roof and trusses today. Hopefully the drywall work will be completed tomorrow and I can start painting this weekend before we put in the flooring. Have any of you guys ever tried those Wagner power sprayers? I'm sure they would use more paint than if I rolled and brushed, but it would be worth the $200 bucks to get it done more quickly if they do a decent job. I pride myself on having a close family but 4 of us in a 15 x 13 living room passed getting old about 2 weeks ago. Any experiences or thoughts on the sprayers appreciated.

(added just noticed I spelled sprayers wrong on the subject line but can't edit that [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I have one and it works great, but I've only used it for outside work and it covers nice and even. Cleaning it up afterwords is kind of a hassel.

I personally have had nothing but bad luck with Wagner. If you really want to spray, get a commericial airless sprayer at Home Depot. You can get them for less than $400 and they will paint 10x better and faster. You can also get different nozzles for it so you can do inside and outside stuff. Rent it out to your buddies to lower the cost.

or just get a keg of beer and invite all your friends, hand them a roller and a mug.
But I guess a lot of people are taking that approach in Florida after all those nasty storms.

LOL Mark, yep I've about called in all the favors at this point, everybody is in pretty much in the same boat and just trying to take care of themselves right now. My neighbors and friends have been a big help though, and even had a friend come over with a bobcat and cleared all the big stuff I could'nt move by hand. The whole neighborhood pulled together and cleared roads and took turns waiting in line for gas for generators and ice and stuff. I got lucky with the roof, one of our phone customers has been in the Industrial roofing business for over 30 years and started a shingle division with crews from Texas, my roof was the first one they did. A few of my neighbors homes are still too damaged to allow the power company to restore service. I think the strangest thing though is to drive around and see hundreds of 5th wheel campers parked in the driveways of 200K and up homes. While a 5th wheel might be a step up for me, I'm sure it is quite an adjustment to go from a 3000sf home to a 5th wheel trailer. It's gonna be a long time before things are back to normal here.

Glad to hear that you are getting things put back together. I just thought that I would offer my 2 cents on another Wagner product, the power roller. Piece of junk, impossible to clean, very difficult to adjust properly to get even coverage. If the power sprayer was put together like this thing was, then you should stay away from it.
On the other hand, the tool/equipment rental places around here rent the commercial grade power sprayers. It might be worth looking into.

MY 2 CENTS..

I used a Wagner and a commercial grade sprayer when I built my house.

The Wagner does an ok job, with allot of hassles.

Getting a commercial grade sprayer was the best thing I ever did. I sprayed lacquer and painted with it. I also painted my barn with it. It took more time taping then it did painting. Its like everything else, you get what you pay for.

I'm in agreement that the little Wagner sprayers suck. I agree with Z-man, get a low priced airless sprayer from HD or Lowes. They are very quick and make painting (dare I say) fun.

If you take care of them they will last for years. A good investment for sure.

I do have a Wagner Power Roller. The kind you plug in, not the battery operated one. I have had real good luck with it.

As I see it, you people out west have been through enough. Treat yourself to a new toy!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I'm gonna try the Wagner "Paint Crew" airless sprayer, its' nder 200 bucks and I'll give it a shot. I'll see if Wal-mart sells it too, and if it don't work I'll take it back. Things are finally starting to fall together for me, I think the worst part has been just having no end in sight. They should be through with the Drywall by Mon or Tues , that leaves me just a coupla nights after work to paint the entire house because I have carpet and pergo lined up for next weekend. I had lost hope of having everything back together by X-mas but it looks like we might pull it off. Have'nt ordered new furniture yet because I did'nt know when I could accept delivery, but at least I can go buy some mattereses and at least get a "Real" bed to sleep on. I'll let yall know how the "paint crew" works. Thanks again.

Oh yeah!! Give me something else to paint. I bought a Wagner "Paint Crew" airless sprayer. Money well spent, clean up is a buger especailly for me as I am maticulios with my tools but definately the way to go in my situation. Would reccommed definately for exterior, but unless your in the situation I'm in with having to replace carpet and all anyway, over spray would be a worry in a room full of stuff that I wanted to keep. All in all $178 bucks well spent.
