I happen to watch a few moments of the oscars.
I was wondering WHY they still use those big handheld mics.
Cant they use the kind that they can hide? It still is wireless, so whats the big deal...

Didn't see them. I quit watching those self back-patting shows.
Security blanket, and showmanship (if you can call it that). That's the only way I can explain it. That, and they are easier to keep track of and quickly handed off when they are being used by so many.
