Ok, I know have a few DB9 adapters that need to be put together to attach to the serial connection on a COmdial DXP switch.

Try as I might, I can't get it to work. I have already ruined two of these so clled easy to create adapters.

Can someone tell me in plain simple english, which color wires go to what numbers pins.

I have the following wires;

blue --- Pin
red -------Pin
yellow ------ Pin
white --------Pin
black --------Pin
Green --------Pin

I must have tried all possible configuration EXCEPT the correct one.

dtmf:

I tried the below configuration and it doesn't work. The problem maybe the phone cable I'm using.

I have two different cables, neither one work with the below configuration.

END1 END2
red green
black yellow
yellow black
green red

END1 END2
yellow yellow
green green
red red
black black

One looks like what I would consider a cross over cable while the other is a straight through. Which one is correct? Or are they both wrong because I have an adapter that's wired for 6 pins and I'm only using 4 wire cable?

Who would have thought it would be so difficult?

Ok, I found a three pair cable. Below is the cable order.

END1 END2
blue white
yellow black
green red
red green
black yellow
white blue

This is the cable i'm using that does not work. Should it or do I need a straight through matching pair for pair?

Thanks

Should be a standard 3 pair line cord. Your cable is right.
Do you have the manual? If not i can fax you the page or pages you need. What are you useing it for?

I have the PDF on the Phone Switch.

I'm trying to connect my COM1 port to the rs232 port on a COmdial DXP system. I'm then going to use Vmmi to make some minor cosmetic changes.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but what? I have checked the pin outs three times and made sure I have the wires firmly placed in the adapter.

I have the top line of the adapter populated (pin 1 -5) and the blue wire is the only one on the bottom line in pin 6.

What happens when you try to fire it up? Did you set the dip switches for the data ports?

I'm not sure I follow you.

Process:
I fire up the latop
plug adapter cable into the COM 1 port on laptop
Unplug cable from Dxmd RS 232 port to DXCPU card rs232 port
Plug other end into DXCPU-68k card-rs232 1 port
STart VMMI application
CLick connect
enter password
ENTER
error - communication error check parameters

VMMI is set for 9600, 8,n,1
