Last night I had to go to the funeral home for a visitation for the wife of a former co-worker. At this same funeral home was the flag-draped coffin of a soldier who died in Iraq.

The show of respect was so thick you could feel it. It wasn't the uniformed honor guard at each end of the coffin. Nor the uniformed mourners paying their respects. It was the other "uniformed" honor guard standing watch. It was the Patriot Guard, both men and women, standing on each side of the street for half a city block with American flags displayed.

The website says Fred Phelps will be there on Thursday when the funeral will be held. Him and his pack trying to make the news and show disrespect. What odds do you give of him succeeding?

Thank you, Patriot Guard. We served to ensure every one's right to dissent, but you just have to draw the line somewhere.

A few months ago, I attended the funeral of a fallen Marine in Wagoner, Okla. The patriot guard did an absolutely outstanding job honoring that Marine, as well as protecting the family members privacy by keeping the Fred Phelps zoo at bay.

Thank you.

Thank you Patriot Guard .

This may be a good time to contact your local politicians and ask them to follow Maine's example :thumb:

When I lived in Kansas every time I had to go to Topeka and saw the "Phelps crews" out with the signs I ALWAYS just wanted to swerve into the crowd. Most days they protest next to the mall. Man those people tick me off, how cruel does someone have to be to not just protest against a certain lifestyle but to protest at a falling hero's funeral; that is the lowest of lows.
