I can't say that I've ever seen one of these before.

I'm going to save a copy of the image to my computer.

The style has me thinking "Merlin Classic", but the text says "Electronic Key Telephone System Model 2600".

I service a school district that, up until a couple of years ago had these 'gems' in three elementary schools. The ad copy says 'preprogrammed...' Because you can't really program the system to do anything except ring. Looking at the asking price makes me think maybe ebay should institute drug testing.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

They were around in the 1985-1987 era when AT&T was finding their Merlin 206 and 410 systems hard to sell to tiny customers. The Spirit systems filled that gap and thus, the demise of this phone "system".

That might explain why the telephone looks like a stripped down Merlin.

I was employeed by AT&T IS during the period 1-1-84 thru 12-31-89, when I was laid off. I installed several of these "telephone" systems. They were drop-shipped to customers by UPS or FedEx and we were sent to install them. Even the I/W and blocks were in the box-o-stuff.

They had an inherent problem with the power supplies, that caused A-C hum on all connections, both ICM and outside calls. We were sent back over and over again to replace the KSU's.

I think I replaced as many as I installed. We were told to throw away the defective ones, as they did not want to repair them.

We called them "Mattel" phones.
