I am going to do a system relocation of a DSU II and a Comdial VM system. I know that the DSU II has a memory retention of 60 hrs(won't be a problem). My question is, how long will the voive mail retain its memory. The customer(potential)says that he does't think that is is a Debut based on my description of it. We seem to think it is an older PC based VM. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be fine as the programming should be on the hard drive.I don't think you will have any problems. How long of a down time are we talking about?

I would think that you shouldn't have any problems at all.

I was thinking the debut was flash-based.

clgir, I think he said it's a PC based VMS and not a Debut, you could always replace the Batt. on the mother board to be sure.
If it is a Dedut then it is a Flash-based, then you should do a back up of the DVM,CFG,TXT,LNK files

I agree DTMF that a backup would be in order. I usually backed up the entire VM directory to tape, or if I thought the hard drive was good, I would xcopy to a new directory called VM_backup. Of course only due the backup to the harddrive if space allows.
Good luck.
