found the following online. I thought everyone could use a good laugh. I think this goes to say how important the issue is, especially to main stream America, and how we all want to make sure that illegal immigration is labeled correctly. I don't know of anyone, myself, included, who opposes legal immigration.

The story line reads as follows:

"Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal
Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have
contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to
determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred
me
to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen

to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's
provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the
United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay

a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I
know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process
started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay
taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two
years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way
that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an
excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in
2004
and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local
emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have
stopped
paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could
save
almost $10,000 a year.
Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter
would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges
throughout the United States for my son.
Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the
burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome
car
insurance premiums.
This is very important to me given that I still have college age
children driving my car.
If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary
forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

Pete McGlaughlin"

NOT funny! Disgusting is a better description. And we pay these idiots serious $ to spend our $. IF the partisan activities would just get really 'shrill', Congress wouldn't do anything! (And I'm sure some think that's about what they do now!) I for 1 think that would be a good thing! John C. (Not Garand)

Z-man, are you trying to say you were stationed here at some point in your 'checkered' past? I've got a better excuse. I was stationed at Seymour-Johnson and married a Goldsboro gal. We're close to retirement and move chance presented itself, so we moved from KS to F'ville. From the locals, things are better than they used to be. I have no history to draw conclusions from. Salina was home from 89-01. Ops Mgr for small outfit there. They changed hands, times got tight. I was most expensive expendable. Guess the rest. But, they still drove themselves into bankruptcy, for reasons that aren't worth discussing here. I guess I came out on the better end of that stick, altho I still burn when I think how hard I worked to build that company. frown John C. (Not Garand)

Z-man, If you were to drive thru Division along Gruber or Ardennes, you would barely recognize anything. Just about all barracks are now replaced. Construction of the new Div HQ building is about half completed. My father in-law was a door-gunner in the 18th Aviation Brigade. I took him around the area and over at Simmons, and he was completely lost with all the different changes. Downtown Fayettenam and to the west of downtown has really cleaned itself up alot. The addition of the Airborne and Special Operations Museum has also really helped the downtown area as well (corner of Bragg Blvd and Hay Street).

And the Airborne and Special Operations Museum is really something! Both the building and the displays! Maybe I'm an old softie, but I come out of there in tears every time I visit. And I was in the USAF, and nothing special, Radio Relay and Flight Simulator. And the National Anthem brings tears to my eyes. It all makes me think about the Hundreds of Thousands that have died for us and how petty and thoughtless so many 'Americans' are about our freedom! frown John C. (Not Garand)
