I saw that article. I would have paid to watch those guys land that hammerhead. I went to a big fish tournament a few years ago....it was won out of Port Aransas TX. The winner was a guy in a 14 foot boat. He brought back a 16 plus foot shark. Apparently the shark drug him around until he tired it out.

That reminds me of a Saturday morning in 1984 when I was fishing from the peer in Destin Florida.

A little girl about 7 or 8 years old was there with her dad when she decided to fish right beside me while her dad was on the opposite side of the peer.
She had a little Zebco with a cigar minnow just barely in the water when a 6-7 foot hammerhead casually swam by and decided to have a little snack.
I saw what was happening so I helped her hold on to the reel while the shark stripped every inch of line from it and snapped it like a spider web. She was screaming "Daddy, I caught the shark... I caught the shark!"

After she took her empty reel to her dad he came over and ask us what happened... we said "She caught the shark man!" :rofl:

That is a big hammerhead. Caught it in Flagler huh. Lots of sharks in that area.
I think a guy caught one off the Jax Beach pier a few years ago that as a lil over 700 pounds. They say the hammerhead is one mean shark accounting for a lot of shark bites.
