Did you hear that on Monday we almost collided with an asteroid? It was twice the size of the one that hit in Siberia in the 1800it came within 48,000 miles. noting was said until today. they didn't spot it until early on monday. Guess they didn't want us to worry about it and forget about the economy. Story here.

I have read that is not unusual. By the time we notice a large asteroid heading for us, it's too late to do anything about it. Moral of the story. Keep yourself prayed up.

I didn't hear about it until now. Good thing we didn't have another Tunguska on our hands.

I'll bet our heat shield is what saved us. You know, the global warming heat shield!

"By the time we see it it's usually too late to do something about it?"
You mean the US government can really send Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck on the asteroid and save our ass? :p
Yes, I'm a frenchie; have a problem with that?? Well, I do!!

Don't be silly Yanick. We could send the "Space Cowbows" up there and they could shoot a nuclear enema right up the old asteroid.
That would certainly put a stop to a bunch of crap here on Earth! Or would be the start of a bunch of crap? :toothy:

Bobby, you haven't been paying attention. Now the Global warning 'chicken littles' have 'determined' that we are going to have about 20 years of cooling/stability, then the warming cycle is going to take off again! All based on the last 4 years of COOLING. I am so SICK of people making statements that they 'back up' with 'computer models'. It takes very little common sense to figure out that the 'computer model' you are using, THAT YOU CREATED, will always give you the answer you want! When is the general populace going to figure out that computers are not necessarily 'our friends'. John C.

Quote "Now the Global warning 'chicken littles' have 'determined'" .. Thats too funny when you actually apply logic to the PROBLEM, so lets give it a try. Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars would suggest to me that its that dern ol "Ball O Fire" up in the sky and NOT us surface dwellers that are to blame for BOTH planets ice caps melting. Come to think of it I remember reading how they have found tree stumps at the new waters edge which just 10 years ago was covered with ice, question could be who put those stumps there?
