I have a customer that has a question about the debut system. They want to know if it is an analog system and if it can be programmed through the phone on the phone system. He said the manual does not make sense to him. I have not been able to get to him to see the manual. He wants to hook it to a J1632. He says right now it is hooked through an ATID. That is all of the information that I have. If anybody needs more let me know.

The debut comes both analog and digital. The ana;log does require an ATI-D or a Jm-008 and the digital can be hooked up directly to a digital port. It can be programmed thru the phone using the teleparameter features access thru a supervisors box (70 is default). The telparameter features are hard for a trained tech to keep up with though IMHO and I prefer to use keylink.

If it's currently connected via an ATI it's analog. With a supervisors guide and a little assistance you will be able to do most programming, but Mr. Big is right, not all programming is accessable and it's a bit cumbersome. Ping me direct via my profile email and I will help you set it up if you need.

I'm the one with the Debut. Currently it is interfaced to the DSU II via an ATI-D but I cannot dial into the VM. The first question is what baud rate do I set the com port on the DSU (and then the Debut) for serial integration? This is one of the very first units Key Voice manufactured for Comdial approximately 6 years ago. I have never used it, but I recall that it was an analog system. Any help would be great. The VM need is not too sophisticated so even if all programming is not accessible via the telephone key pad, I'm sure a base level can be established?! Joe

Have you programed the ports on the DSU for the ATI-D? You can test communications to the ATI-D with a butt set or a slt set. 9600 is the baud rate that is recommended. You can default the debut thru a phone but it would be easier using Keylink. There is also some programming that needs to be done on the DSU to integrate it serially. What software level is the DSU? Mark or one of the other mods can tell you what level that has to be.

I'm pretty sure it's 17A or higher. If I'm wrong someone will chime in (I hope!)

The system recognizes that an ATI-D is attached thus no programming is required. However, I did program the ports (26, 27, 28, 29) as VM ports. And once that is done, checking them with a butt set doesn't give me anything useful. When I dial sta 26 I get a busy tone (ditto for the other ports).
I don't have access to keylink so the phone will have to do. As far as additional programming on the DSU for serial integration, I would like to know what that could be? Visual VM in the switch doesn't need to be adjusted as far as I can determine. The software version in the DSU II is 05A (and BTW it is an 816 with two expansion modules). Can the debut work without serial integration and get all signalling thru the station ports? Right now, I would simply like to get to the supervisor's box and/or have the system answer an intercom call.

Getting the ati-d to work is you first need. Changing the ports to vm will cause the system to send a digit to the port rather than dial tone so when you go off hook you should hear a dtmf tone("1" I think). you should be able to dial 9 and get a line. You might try to change them back to ist to make sure you ati-d s (I am assuming that you have two of them for your four ports) are working. When you are calling them are they hooked up to the Debut? TRy unhook them if they are. To test the debut try hooking it up to a co line and call in to make sure its not the problem.

Turning on VVM is what makes it serial integration. It can work with just vm turned on the ports.

Keylink would realy help with you programming and I bet someone would be willing to send it to you.

If it's a DSU2 then the software is not an issue. Keylink is available on the Comdial CCC web site or I'll send it to a qualified installer if they don't have access to the Comdial dealer site.

Ok, I checked the ATI-D for DTMF tone on off-hook. No problem. Dial "9" for outside line works, too. Yes I have two ATI-D's. When I connect the ATI-D to the Debut it seems to cause the station port to be "busy." Also, when I connect a CO line to the Debut and dial in I get a busy signal. I wonder If I have a defective VM system?!

Mark, what constitutes a qualified installer? Thanks, jc
