Story here: Fake ATM at DEFCON 17

DEFCON, for those who don't know, is the acclaimed convention for anything and everything security related. Think of it as the security-related equivalent of the Consumer Electronic Show. Anyone who is a figure or name in security related matters shows up here.

Kind of reminds me of the guy who attempts a hold-up at a gun convention. Not a very smart thing.

Or the guy that tries to hold up the barteneder of the local cop 'watering hole'.
"This is a hold up" CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, AD NAUSEUM. Followed by a chorus of: "DON'T MOVE, YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. DROP YOUR WEAPON AND RAISE YOUR HANDS".

Saw one in the news a few weeks ago where a guy robed someone in a mens room at a convention hall, I think it was out west. The convention turned out to be a police convention. :bang: :nono:

I was in Chicago back in the 80s for a parade/celebration for fellow Vietnam Vets and some idiot tried to grab the cash box from one of the gathering areas. What he didn't know was it was filled with Marines and members of the 101st Airborne div. The Marines were first out the door followed by most of the Airborne guys. I am not sure if he lived, but I don't think the police were involved....if you know what I mean...

I remember reading about some guy that tried to carjack a minivan full of martial arts students on their way to a tournament...
