We are preparing a relief effort as i type we will be in the air within days to assist with the effort money and prayer are the needs. Found this on another web site: -------------------------- heard a story from Pat Robertson, that supposedly a couple hundred years ago, Haiti was under the rule of the french, Napoleon 3rd I think, and the Haitians made a deal with the devil, to overthrow the french and gain independence, which happened, and ever since Haiti has been plagued with misery after misery. look at the Dominican republic, on the other half of the island. prosperous, vibrant and no damage from quake. Haiti steeped in voodoo and all kinds of black magic, and one of the poorest nations in the world, makes ya wonder.

The church was on Fox News this morning bashing Robertson over the "tale." What is the church but a long line of old "tales" of good vs. evil. Hope someone does an in depth look at that era and the beliefs to review the time lines and the stories of the ill fated area. Would be an interesting watch.

Robertson does paint pictures for his own personal agendas, it was a post I saw somewhere that was interesting...It is kinda strange that only one side of that island had issues...it's really not that big is it? the area that is.

The dominican is not all the swell either. The resort area's are nice but away from them it is pretty sad! I was just down there in June of last year. It was a wild bus ride for the airport to the resort area which we had stayed. We ventured off of the resort 1 time and it was a wild adventure!
But anyway my prayers go out to those in Haiti from the civilians to the people who are there to help with the devestation and so on.

Originally posted by test-ok: Robertson does paint pictures for his own personal agendas, it was a post I saw somewhere that was interesting...It is kinda strange that only one side of that island had issues...it's really not that big is it? the area that is. I think the Reverend Robertson should probably retire and ride off into the sunset. He's been saying quite a few things over the past few years that are....unusual, to say the least. Re' size: The whole island is about 30,000 sq miles (only Cuba is bigger) and the other side of the island - the DR - is not that hot. I've been there twice - once to a resort that had armed guards (with automatic weapons!) at the gates. They weren't there to keep you in. The second time I was there I stayed at Punta Cana. Like Oobie said, the ride from the airport was scary. You did NOT want to leave the resort areas. When we came back I went to give blood (like I did every few months). The Red Cross would not let me give blood because....(drum roll, please) Malaria is rampant in Punta Cana. Funny the travel agent never mentioned that. I think the only things the Dominicans have going for them is a little luck and some slightly better building codes. Sam
