I don't know. 30 years ago I would have worried that a $5 tool bag was too cheap. Now?

If they're selling this for $5 and they had to buy materials, fabricate it and I imagine, ship it here from China and they're still making money on this, I'd be a little concerned about quality.

I like inexpensive, but I'd hate to lose tools when the bottom of the bag suddenly gives out.

I've got one like that somewhere...just another bag of tools to keep track of.
I really have not found one tool bag that I like for any long period of time.

They may be just dumping them because of slow sales, due to the quality as Sam mentioned.

well it is "craftsman " does that mean its warranted forever ?

a few years ago home depot had tool totes on their "black Friday " sale for $10.00 so I bought a couple for use around the house

within 6 months the handles had broken on both of them

I have had some of the Craftsman nylon cellphone cases...velcro went bad, they let me exchange it for a new one just like one of their hand tools, did not expect that.
But, my Craftsman bottle opener says 'not a hand tool, kitchen utensil'

I still like these guys. Solid Telephone repairman's case. Still made by the same people that made it for Bell. Still made here in NYC.

If you all can stand another "small world" story from the old telephone man...

In the 1970's, I was dispatched to an apartment in a lower middle-class area of Manhattan and was greeted by a nice young Latina woman who told me she had stayed home from work in order to meet the telephone repairman.

Her English was not so good, but we were able to figure out her phone problem. I opened my Fibercase® toolbox and got to work. I asked her what she did for a living, and she pointed to my tool box. I didn't quite understand, so she said "I make that."

As it turned out, she worked for the company that made the tool box, and she had never seen one in use before. I suspect that she hadn't ever been told exactly what the application was, so it was an experience for both of us. She saw one in use, and I met the gal who might have made the actual one I was using.

Same planet...different worlds. That's a great story, Arthur.

@Dave: If you purchase one, please let us know how it actually works out. I suspect the lining and zipper are the weak spots. Other than that, longevity may come from the high-density nylon weave in the handle and [what appears to be] rip-stop fabric in the body of the bag.

But what do I know? There is actually a Craftsman forum where reviews from well over a year ago report surprising luck and quality with this product.
