I got up at 3:30am to check it out and found it to be very disappointing.
My software showed a half darkened Moon and the media pumped the same, but my eyes told a different story. I really felt like a fool getting up at that hour after what I witnessed.
I'll hold my breath until July 11th, when we get a total solar eclipse.

I've seen at least 3 previous Lunar eclipses and don't think the are anything to loose sleep over. Yes, it's kind of interesting to see the moon turn a rather indistinct murky dirty red color - kind of like the recent Surivor game with the Tarantula clue. But I am envious toward those who have seen a total solar eclipse. I have only seen a couple of partials and only one of those was significant enough to make it appear as if it was twilight and to make the birds stop singing - that was kind of neat!
