Sorry I was on the Forum, I was busy. I got into Yahoo! Answers -- mostly cars commuting, safety, and motorcycles. A little at times in communication networking. In Yahoo! as a different person; work was not fun....

SBC, the pirates that took PacBell and ATT and everything else they could steal, purchased me at a fire sale. I was, am, for over 20 years now, part of Official Communication Services. My boss was Asao Tokunga; Jim Fazindin was our second level. AT&T disbanded OCS, the function to be brought in with Special Services, and TOK and The Faze retired. That was June '08. July '08 was when they O.C. crew took over my job and made a cluster F.

Starting '10 I was tired. Went for a Stress Test -- but when they wired me up they dropped the stress part. Not good. Went for an angiogram on April 13, they looked and said you ain't walking out and did a quadruple bypass the next morning. Except they only did three as the heart is partly dead. Also a "Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator" so the heart should not stop too soon. "Ejection Factor" is how much blood moves each heart beat. Normal 55-60% out of the heart chamber, I'm doing 25%. Win Some, Lose Some.

Until I had the Stroke. As well of a partially dead heart I now have a partially dead brain, in the Broca's area. So I now have Aphasia https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/voice/aphasia.html

I am Physically Fine (other than the heart). My hands can still my longnoses and pluck an arm hair. I can still remember things. But I don't remember the words. But I'm getting there, slowly.

Which comes to WHY I came back. I cannot remember the words, what they Called the Service. About late '60's - early '70's we used had a 50Kbps data service. It had a telephone number that dialed up. It was slaved on the T1 line. In L.A. Madison we had T1 lines going in/out of a crossbar switch on the 9th floor T1, slaved to the Toll Tandem Switch place thing. It was a dial-up 50K data service. I can not remember what the WORDs was for that service.

Hey Mike, sounds like you’ve had a tough row to hoe but glad you’re back…

I’m taking a guess you’re talking about a “switched 56 Kb” circuit? Maybe?

Boy way to hang in there Mike, hope you're back to 100% soon. Switched 56 is what I think it was called also.

No... It was only 50K. It had a fancy name. We switched here, Chicago I think. We switched the voice circuit, but the data was slaved to a cross-bar switch in the T-Carrier shop.

T1, you prabably know, T1 repeaters run about a mile. Remember that we came out of a repeater, to the switch, back to another repeater -- 'cause the attenuation through the crossbar switch was like going a mile of wire.

I was at Yahoo Answers and someone asked about broadband and narrowband and I was thinking that in 1970 50K was broadband, while 30 years later 50K was narrowband, voice band.

As for my health -- after the operation I came to consciousness, I saw my wife and smiled, "I survived!" As I write: "I iz not dead. Everytink else ken be fixed."
