A new customer purchased a used DSU 1 cabinet from some internet site. The cartridge says its software level is 14 but the company that sold them the system insists that they replaced the "software chips" and it is now 20a. Is it possible to replace these chips? Any way to verify this?

I think you can go in to software programming and do a software check. I think it is option 17 under the system option 1 off the main menu.

I might be thinking of the dsull though.

Plug in your laptop! You can see the software version that way. Hyperterm will work fine.

if the cartridge says 14, it's 14. Betcha a beer. No chips to upgrade a dsu (orignal) software is in the cart.

Mark, don't you remember the recent thread about the stuff from eBay, where the guy was selling a "Partner ACS Processor" that was very obviously a Partner Plus Processor? Okay, so I guess a beer is not that high of stakes, that I bet you could afford to lose. Then again, it IS beer! [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

well I suppose someone could open the cartridge and replace the chips, but I can't imagine why. You have to buy the cartridge to get the chips, unless you can make your own. For the price of a beer, I'll hold on it being 14. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Well I have to agree, I have never heard of such a thing, if it was a 20a why wouldn't they just put the 20a in and take the 14 out. It is possible that they made there own chips but very unlikely. Just doesn't sound right to me. Can i get in on some of that beer? [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
