His truck is governed to 68 miles an hour, because the company he leases it from believes it keeps him and the public and the equipment safer.
The truck he passed was probably running under 65 mph to conserve fuel. so the traffic moving 80 in the left lane should slow down to 68 so he can go a extra 3mph? lots of of us make our living getting from a to b and these "kings of the road " steal time from us its gotten so bad around here there are sections of road where trucks are banned from the left lane ..it doesn't work they still cut you off and try for that extra 3mph

Being a road warrior, like most on this board, I have to say that 99% of the truckers I encounter are true professionals. They put up with a lot of crap – cars cutting them off, cruising in the center lane 20 MPH under the speed limit (and trucks aren’t allowed in the left lane), and similar nonsense.
I’d be tempted to use that 80,000 pound truck as a battering ram, and push the idiots out of the way!

I don't have the patience to drive a truck or even a taxi for a living, I have horrible depth perception, and I can barely pull a trailer in my van. So, it's hard to knock truck drivers for the work they do. Since they are 10x bigger than me, and have limited visibility, I treat them with the respect they deserve. Just like we bitch about poor workmanship in our profession, I'm sure they bitch about stupid drivers in their profession.
I just try not to part of their problem.

From my home in ST. Louis to Lake of the Ozarks is about a 2.5 hour drive going west on interstate 44. On this scenic drive you encounter some steep grade hills. 4 to 5 times going and 4 to 5 times coming back from the lake a semi will whip in front of you as your going up a hill causing cars to hit their brakes hard and guess what they never pass the vehicle until they are back on flat highway.
These drivers know damn well they are unable to pass going up steep grades so why do it This problem is getting worse not better.
Gee if I can look in the mirror of my van and judge the speed of the vehicle coming up so can the truck drivers.
In Missouri if the interstate or any highway is 3 lanes or more the left lane is off limits to trucks, just another law to thump their noses at.
I know there are a lot of good truck drivers out on the road I just wish they tell the bad ones to back off.

When I lived in Orlando I was talking to a guy that hates semi's and was part of a group that was trying to get a law passed to make it more expensive for the truckers to drive on the road, I asked this silly ass if he knew that it would put money in the governments hand that they would waste, raise the price of goods and then name me one thing he uses that doesn't come by truck. He tried to name a bunch of things which I shot down then he asked me why would it raise the price of goods totally bewildered.

Why can't people get the concept? All costs of doing business are paid by THE END USER. There is no 'MAGIC MONEY FAUCET'. Reminds me of that commercial where the guy tells his buddy that he's waiting for the 'Credit Fairy' to raise his credit rating!

Well, here is an opinion from someone that drove truck for over 10 years, before getting into the "phone business". I think a few of you need to spend a couple of weeks in the cab of a truck with an experienced truck driver and see what they actually go through. Skipp555 and dans, neither of you have any knowledge of this subject at all.
