On my personal vehicle, a (don't laugh) '91 Honda Accord I have all season tires. I bought cables for when the need arises, however they are still in the bag and has never been opened. My car get's 29.5 city and 31+ highway and has over 237,000 miles. My wife has a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with All Season tires. We bought chains when the "Pass" required carrying them...again, never opened and never needed. I think it has a lot to do with a persons ability. I cannot count the times I watch someone in a 4x4 zip past and seeing them down the road..."Oops, what happened?!?!" 4 wheel drive stopping doesn't work any better than a 2 wheel drive stopping with the same tires!

Dear northern people, what is snow? Signed- Guy from Florida  Other then the current tires on my car (which I got at an incredible deal!), I just run high-performance summer tires. They work better in 2-3" of water then all seasons, and a hell of a lot better in dry traction.

If I have to stop when I'm in 4, I usually hit the transfer case first. I almost lost my Durango last year on a steep, icy hill because of this (and I know better!).

People will say oh all seasons are fine, at the end of the day, a winter tire is going to serve you much better. All seasons will work but you will have many close calls no doubt. Big fan of Blizzak. When it's easy not to spin the tires on a 400hp FWD car and maintain control in the snow I think that says something  .
