Update. Rumford, Me has a few roads washed out according to Barb's niece down there.

Up here:
- power's been out for several hours up near our cottages, but I'm not there!
- 180,000 clients without electricity in Montreal according to Hydro Quebec.
- A friend of mine locally had one of his tress go down on a neighbour's car.

I saw on the news yesterday that First Energy (power company here) is sending trucks and crews to NY and NJ to help restore the 2 million people who are without power.

Lost power around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon. Pretty gusty winds, but I've seen worse. At least 6" of rain fell (rain gauge filled up). Power was restored about 30 minutes ago, just as I'm walking in the door with bags of ice I just bought for the freezer and fridge. I'm waiting for the boiler to make me some hot water so I can take a shower.

edit: I'm originally from Southern NJ. Hope ya'll south of me did okay and are safe.

My immediate area was fine.... lots of rain and wind but an hour south of here in the Catskills was devastated .... 13 inches of rain caused a ton of flooding and problems.

If insurance where you are is anything like Florida, water damage is considered flooding and NOT part of the hurricane. Yeah, gotta love that one. So if you got damage, hope you have a flooding policy.

I typed to soon within a hour of posting yesterday we lost power and just got it back a short while ago. The roof on a near by church is gone and lots of trees down with some flooding but mostly in the western side of the state.

Rivers overflowing here, fields are a lake. I never lost power, but my mother has been without at the cottage since yesterday at 4 PM.

A couple of clients called this am with a request to supply emergency jacks & phones for each line as they had no power and the UPS's had died.

Hydro Quebec has sent trucks & crews to New York to help out, even though their own clients are going without. Good for them, bad for Quebecers.

Not much damage here from the storm itself, but the resultant flooding has been nothing short of a pain in the butt. I believe there have been three reported deaths in our immediate area. I was stuck on Interstate 87 for quite awhile yesterday as a barge came loose and was threatening the Twin bridges. They closed them down just as I was approaching with no way off the highway. There's a house on the riverbank two blocks from me that's still in jeopardy of being inundated. Right now it's sitting on a bit of high ground with its yard turned into a moat and the river cresting like an over-full glass of water at its bank.
