Proudly serving Canada from coast to coast.
Demonstrators may be out of their minds, but we should all be willing to fall on a sword for their right to protest.
What I find appalling is the recent trend of undercover cops infiltrating these protest groups (the "Occupy" clan in particular) who then ENCOURAGE riot behavior by themselves smashing cops cars, etc.
These are known as "police agent provocateurs", and it's a very low attempt by people we hold to higher standards to increase the number of arrests.
THAT is what should make you sick.
An example in recent memory is the riot that took place in Pittsburgh on September 26th, 2011. The police force admitted that three officers were indeed given the assignment, detained briefly afterward, but that no further charges would be filed. Instead they would remain on the force without restrictions or conditions.
That case represents one of at least six or seven such incidents that have been reported by the news. Those kids may be stupid, out of their minds, ignorant...whatever. But if the protest is peaceful and legal, then it should be left alone. No reason for Big Brother to intervene just because they disagree.
I've not cared how Fox has handled the "police provocateur" stories in that they seem to promote the approach.

I really don't understand what the average 'Occupier' is complaining about.
Given:
The average of 20 and 10, is 15.
and,
Bill Gates has a net worth of $56 billion*
The typical 'Occupier' has an income of $0
then one can duduce that the average income of the 'Occupier' must be $28 billion, and therefor part of the 1%er's they are protesting against!
1) There's a difference between "mean" and "median", but people often use the term "average" errantly to describe both. If you and I are each worth 80k and a rich guy walks into the room whose worth is 900k, then the average income in the room is $353k. However, the median or middle number would be 80k--a number that better reflects the truth. The protester clearly intended to describe the median income.
2) Too often we try to make this a fight between Capitalism and Socialism. Personally, I think it's silly to compare a 15th century ideal with a 18th century ideal. To me the protest is this: Why can't we enjoy a modern version of Capitalism...one that includes ethics and a concern for the local community? Obviously that can't be made into law, but I think it's fair to cry foul at the perfectly legitimate, say, oil companies who made outrageous amounts of money--earned fairly and according to the rules--yet don't feel the tug to build a park or offer monetary incentives to kids who financially struggle through college.
And to say that some level of "Socialism" doesn't exist is also naive. The very idea of Social Security, Fire and Police Department are just three examples where "we all chip in" and enjoy like benefits. Without such socialism, I'd have to worry if the fire department put out the flames on the rich guy's house before they hit mine.

To defend Dean, I think he was using some wry humor to maybe just to be a PITA?
It is hard to not be too judgemental about these occupiers. Most (at least around here) are from, shall I say the counter-culture. Alot of them have probably never had a job other than a 3 month stint at Starbucks. However, their complaints about an oligarchy being in effect seem very substantiated.
Things really seem to be alligning themselves with what happened with the Seattle strikes of 1919 that started the red-scare. (very simplifed, I know)
" May you live in interesting times " - Ancient Chinese proverb/curse.
They remind me of the old Moratorium people who used to crash the National Mall every month to protest the Vietnam war. Lots of signs, drugs, and litter. I was there to observe that lot.
