The thing reminds me of the garanteed fly killer or your money back as long as you follow the instructions scam back when I was a kid... the device was two blocks of wood and instructions were to place fly on one and hit it with the other one.

I don't think it could stop the listening, but if I read correctly it sends out a tone when line is not in use, thereby "tricking" any voice activated recording devices into recording. Since most recording devices have a finite amount of storage this would "fill" up the device.
Now I might be in the market for one of there portable personal explosive detectors.
Every time I fix a payphone downtown the crack heads always ask if the payphone is bugged? I tell them the police might look at the phone bill and if their is 500 calls per month to one number and its not the unemployment office. They might bug that phone! I don't think any of the payphones phones I fix are bugged. If they are who cares "criminals"
