I have a site that serial port 2 is very sluggish when connecting with a laptop and cannot connect remotetly on the internal modem. Could the CPU/Services be failing? Had no problems connecting remotely and have tried different sites to make sure the problem is not on my end. The modem answers but does not handshake enough to pull the database. The connection then just drops.

Your problem could be one or more of several issues. Make sure all 4 voltage LEDS are bright(bent pin behind the CPU/Services will cause this issue, Make sure your SMDA records are not coming out serial port 2 thus slowing traffic as it attempts to dump the buffer when you log in on that port, but most of all check line quality at the site. If you have a second CPU\Services board in stock it would be easy to load their database on it,swap it out and retest to eliminate or confirm hardware issue.

Excellent feedback. Thanks. The modem was working fine and the serial port seems to have surfaced recently as well.
