Site has 2 PRI's with 8 or 9 fax machines on IST's. All of a sudden the faxes are inconsistent in and out. Mostly in. I also cannot dial in with VMMI, in which I could before. Just hour glasses on me. I have XO looking at the PRI's. Their first glance the circuit was clean. I have them looking at it again. Some faxes just hang on the first page receiving. some faxes come out with straight lines in the paper, and some go thru. We added an 8 port IST last week, but none of the faxes are on the new card. Voice calls seem to be fine. No errors on the PRI card.

sounds like your are getting slips on the circuit. Faxes and modems are the first thing to go with slips. Go into vmmi and set you thresholds for the alarms to 1. This will log any issue going on wants the threshold is met. Then log in with procomm or hyperterm, go to menu options 2, 1, 7, S, T. 2- I think is printouts 1- I think is system 7- I think is alarms S- is print to screen T- is print T-1 errors This shoud show you alarms on the T-1/pri card. I bet you a beer you will see slips. ------------------ PARALLEL TECHNOLOGIES INC. WWW.ABUGSEYEVIEW.COM

We did that yesterday with Comdial. You think the CPU/Services could be damaged or placing the new IST card in could have something to do with it?

I just dialed in with Hyperterminal and the call dropped immediately. Now we know the internal modem is not on a IST. This is strange.

Grounds wires are secured and were only removed last week to swap out expansion cabinet. The expansion cabinet is brand new from Comdial and thats where the IST's are.

Don't know if it's possible but I'd pull the last IST card I put in and see if the trouble clears. I had a run of cabinets with what I suspect was flakey power supplies. If pulling the IST clears the trouble move it to the main cabinet. It seems that dispersing the IST cards throughout the system fixed a few sites for me.

Is this a 2 cabinet FXII. second cabinet on ribbon cable and IST cards are in the second cabinet? If so, that may be your problwm. Move the ist card to the main cabinet. Let me know if that was it. Thx ------------------ PARALLEL TECHNOLOGIES INC. WWW.ABUGSEYEVIEW.COM

Turns out I went there today and the 1st PRI had major slip errors. Swapped the patch cords coming in from the provider and the 1st PRI card was still slipping. Comdial is sending an advanced replacement.
