I am looking for some type of inexpensive voicemail option for an old Panasonic KX-T616. I have had the Bogen MiniMail suggested, although they seem to be pretty hard to find. If anybody has anything they think would work, and would sell cheaply, please send me an e-mail message.

Thanks.

Thomas

Who is your current service provider? Why don't you buy a bundled service?

I would rather not purchase a new system as that costs a lot more than just some type of voicemail. A new system costs around $1000 for a basic one without any phones and from what I've looked at, voicemail costs like 1/10 of that.

Everest Connections is my current service provider. They offer a voicemail option but it only has 1 voicemail box. I would like to get something like Auto attendant and several boxes each with their own individual greeting. The Bogen MiniMail would suit my needs fine but it is very difficult to find.

Lets see 1000 X 1/10 so you found a voicemail for $100. Good luck with that one.

I found a KX-TVP150 on e-bay for $125 buy-it-now. I also saw a completed auction for a Bogen MiniMail for $60. Either of those would suit my needs. With a new system it would be around $1000 plus the cost of voicemail. My current one works fine, and I haven't outgrown it. I don't see any reason to upgrade when there are voicemail solutions that would work.

Be wary of Ebay. If you can find a voice mail that suites what you are looking for then great, but do not trust Ebay for hardware like that. You may pay $100 now, but no voice mail worth its salt is that cheap. Honestly, Ebay can be fine if you know what you are looking for/at, or if you know how to repair it when it dies, and I do mean when. But if you are not a professional then you are litteraly buying what someone else does not want anymore. Think about it, the systems on there are what someone else did not want and replaced or they may not work/are damaged, they are on Ebay for a reason. Sometimes you will find something that works great and will work great for a while, but more often than not it is just junk that will work for all of 6 months (if that) and die. Sometimes they may even say "refurbished" but they are really just cleaned up, nothing has been refurbished - check with the seller to see if it is really refurbished.

So, go with a cheap voice mail if you can find it, but be careful what you buy. This is your business we are talking about and any lost business because of hardware failure will potentially cost more than a new voice mail would cost you in the long run.

Maybe you can lease one from your telephone company? That is an affordable way to get a good piece of equipment and save some cash in the short term, and it will probobly come with a warranty. Just an idea to look at.

Thanks. I did find an identical one at another dealer for $200. But I'm honestly not sure I want to spend that. I might just be better off buying a fancy answering machine. I've actually had pretty good luck with eBay, and I've been calling around to our Panasonic dealers here looking for some stuff, and all but one of them told me to go to eBay. I'd always rather buy locally but when the dealers here don't have anything I don't know where to turn. That's why I posted a thread here.

Another voicemail system I had suggested was the Vodavi MiniVoice. I have found them bundled with systems on ebay for about $175. I don't need the system, just the voicemail. That might be a good affordable one to buy if I can find one, anyone here have any experience with them?

I'll look into leasing it from the phone company although I'm not sure if they'd have anything that isn't really new and I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra features anyways.

How many mailboxes do you need?

Do you need it to answer more than one call at a time?

Have you asked Vodavi if the MiniVoice will work on a Panasonic 616? There is a circle 1 or circle 2 or circle 3 (the latest) When you ask, tell them what software you have on the 616, Rev.1, Rev.2, Rev.3.

Revision number is the circle number. This info is on the right side of the cabinet.
