Recent new customer with a DX-80 & voice mail. They are a women's health clinic, and Xfr calls to an ans. serv. after hours. They would like to disable the VM for now, and I'm not sure just how to do it. I have the phone system manual, & the VM admin. guide, but I need help to get to it. Can this be done with a phone, or do I need my laptop? Thanks in advance. pfonman

Wouldn't a transfer to an answering service be done on their main published line? That would keep the call from even hitting the DX80 unless the line was unforwarded.

OK, I wasn't giving you the whole pic. When the calls xfr after hours, it xfrs to another office in a nearby city, & then the caller hears the after hours grtg from that phone system, (which happens to be a Starplus digital),then they are put on hold, hear a few seconds of music, then they are xfrd to the ans. serv. But (backing up),before the call xfrs the first time, occasionally, not every time, a piece of an old grtg is heard, sometimes it is just a loud bang in the ear, then you hear the xfrd grtg. Not being real familiar with this system, I'm not sure if the xfr from the DX-80 is made by the KSU, or the V M. If it comes from the VM, then obviously I will have to find the trouble, other than disabling the VM. The VM is the 7271C on a compact flash card.
