Hello everyone.

Generally I have programed the Samsung iDCS 500 system using the keyset. Its very straight forward as far as the different programs go. I would like to go the PCMMC mainly because I am not faced with the situation on having to enter over 1,000 names into the Caller ID number-to-name translation table.

I can't possible do this using the phone.

Can someone e-mail me the PCMMC program for the iDCS 500 system(release 1) or let me know where I might find it for download?

I would really appreciate it

Thanks a million!

That PCMMC program is almost 30MB on a CD.
Also your profile does not list your occupation. Please complete your profile then you can e-mail me about PCMMC.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation

Hello.

Thanks for offering to help me with the PCMMC software. I actually found my CD laying around so I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow.

I have assigned an IP address using MMC:830. I now need to Reset the LAN card.

Can you please let me know the best way to do this?

There is a system Reset MMC 811 which has the possibility of completely deleting all the customer data.

Is there a particular MMC that will allow me to only reset the LAN card? Please let me know what would be the best way to go about this?

Thanks.

You can use mmc 811 just to reset the system. You cannot just reset the Lan card.

Would it be safer to reset the system by physically turning the system off then turning it back on using the old fashion method rather than using MMC#811(which could accidentally delete programming)?

I know on the Tie communication system, we could just turn off the power then turn it back on and the system would reboot itself.

However, I am not really sure about the Samsung System since its not the same as TIE Communications.

It happens to be in a mission critical situation(stock market trades)where any downtime can translate into hundreds of thousands in losses.

So I figure I would double check to make sure that there is no risk of loosing database/programming or any other problems in this type of environment(if I would to manually flip the system off then back on.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

You can reset it with the power switch but if you have a in skin voicemail in the switch I would shut it down properly first by halting that card.Mmc 811 isn't that scary you would have to want to default the switch to do it.If you're that unsure backup the programming first.

Hello.

Thank you for the response.

We kind of run into a catch 22 here with backing up the system before restarting.

I am trying to put the System on the network so I can use the PCMMC software to backup the programming and settings.

When I assigned an IP to the LAN module in MMC#830, it said " the LAN card must be restarted to apply the changed items.

Since the LAN card can not be reset without restarting the entire system.

So basically you are saying there that resetting the system using the power switch located inside the cabinet is exactly the same as using the MMC#811 and the system will retain all memory, settings, programming,etc...

I guess the only difference is that the MMC#811 you run a risk of deleting everything when it ask " Clear Memory" whereas the turning off and on the power switch will have no risk of loss or damage.

Using MMC#811, you just need to accidentally hit 1 wrong key which could take out a week worth of configuration and programming. I would really like to play this one safe.

When you say in-skin voice mail, do you mean the an internal Samsung voice mail system(SVMi series) vs an external 3rd party voice mail system?

So if I understand what you are saying correctly. If I have an external voice mail system, then I should be fine to reset the system using the power switch inside the cabinet? This will reboot the system without memory loss, damage, corrupted data, etc.

I'm 99.999% sure of this working from experience with TIE/NEC systems however this particular Samsung system is on a very high end mission critical business. So I needed to be 100% sure before I reset the system in the morning.

Please let me know if I'm understand what your saying correctly?

Thanks.

So I can reset the system using the power switch without loosing the programming/setting correct?

That is my understanding. Please let me know if I'm wrong here?

Thanks.
