we have a dcs prostar system with a misc-2 card and behind it i can see four chips with cid on them
we just had CID (caller id ) activated on our co lines
but when i try any programing with the cid i get the not permited mesage

The installer conveniently forgot to give us that password
Is there any way to reset that password?

This area of programming is for telephone technicians. You need to get your installing company to program at this level. There is nothing in your profile that tells me you are a telephone tech.

Sorry i blamed the installer
I looked threw my papers and found the 800 code
cid is working but now i need new phones with more buttons to use all the options
