Do each of these users have their name properly typed in their mailbox?

That's a very good question. Is this viewable thru the GUI? If so under which menu is it? Also, is there a report which will show the subscriber listing adn associated eClass and mClass assignments?

I've never seen a way to look at the directory names through the GUI. You'll either have to type them in for them or instruct them on putting it in the right way. Plus is it possible that you have the prompt playing enter the first name but have the directory block set for last?

What it sounds like to me is that when new people come in and take over an old mailbox they are not entering their dial by directory name. Tell them to make sure and go into their mailbox programming and change their dial by directory name entry. I bet that fixes it.

I have seen problems like this on all the original SVMI products. If you delete the mailbox and extension then recreate them it will usually clear up. Another thing about the directory that I have found is the length of a last name. If it is too long the directory for that mailbox will not work. When I set one up I have the customer enter the first 4 to 5 letters of the subscribers last name.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone. I'm still learning this system so all of your suggestions were very helpful. I wound up deleteing and re-creating each mb that had been set up 3 years ago (before my arrival here). In the process I made sure each entry had the correct name, directory and greeting. All is working fine now.

The reason for looking at this in the first place was that the Mboxes are not to be used anymore because all of our field reps now have cell phones with VM there. My recent efforts were to record a message that let the caller know the cell number. There may have been a better way to do this but I wouldn't know it. As it is, callers can do a lookup by (last) name and hear the correct ph number to dial. Is there a way to prevent the caller from actually recording a message in the subscriber MB or to be notified if there is?

Thanks again
Steve

Steve,

You should be able to make their voicemail boxes into Voice Announce only.
I normally do this through computer programming, but I'm sure its possible to do through the administrative mailbox.

If you do it through the computer, just go to the block table, select mailbox, then scroll to the mailbox number you wish to make changes to. You should see an option once you get the mailbox brought up to make the mailbox it voice announce only. This will prevent anyone from leaving a message there.

Thanks for that tid-bit. I saw that on the MB screen Tuesday and made a mental note to go back and try it. I'll take care of that this week-end.
