Hi All,

I have a boss that has a Prostart 816 Plus System. Recently they had purchased a Motorola CLS1450cb Industrial cordless phone to hook up the existing system. This phone also is a two-way radio. Anyways , I was trying to get it to work this weekend. Well, I was not lucking enough.

Issue : Port 7 and 8 were config for slt not keyset. I doubled checked the jumpers I believe J8 J9 to make sure the wre on SLT. Also , the tcc1 jumpers was initially set to off if that matters. Jumpers J2 J3 I believe off top my head .

Anyways , when I plugged it in port 7 for single line I was unable to get a dial tone. I also tried a basic single line phone and still no go. I read through the manual to see if I missed anything else and came up with code #38 - set up of dialtone for SLT ..

Can anyone please help ??? Is there any config via the system I need to do?? I know the phone work since I tried in a direct connect to a line and got a dial tone and could dial and recieve a call from my cell phone.

Thanks

Hi
Did you enter all 16 characters in #38 /like

0000001100000000 ?

In jumpers method "A"

port 7 - J2 and J3 to on and J8 & J9 to slt

port 8- J4 and J5 to on and J12 and J 13 to slt

I'm referencing the 816 plus book.

If this gets to crazy for you ,you should contact a local Samsung dealer or reference list of installers on link above. 28 in Indiana.

Good luck

Hi Thanks for the insight. When I did do #38 it also showed n - not available I believe on ports 7 & 8. That was when the line was hooked up to both cordless and regular single line house phone. I will have to check again. There are no added boards on this model or secondary add-on boards . Is this #38 required for Single line phone to get a dial tone on the line ? Just thought I would ask .

Thanks again

Theres a link above for manuals,It would be a prudent investment.

Where are the jumpers ?

#38 defines the type of phone connected to the port keyset or s/l .

Do the ports work with a single line phone?

I have all the manual(s) printed and in pdf form for my benefit. The jumpers are set to slt for both ports 7 & 8 . However , the tcc1 jumpers were set to off and on and still no dial tone when plugged in the system. Does that answer you question where the jumpers are or do you mean where on the board. Per the install manual matches the pictures in the figures. After reading the manual and checking the jumper settings I would believe it should work but I get no dial tone on the ports . I guess my next step would be to set the jumper to keyset and double check to see if a keyset phone works with the ports to make sure.

Thanks Again

Ken,

I was able to switch the port to keyset and it worked when I plugged it in. However, when I switched back to SLT. I still do not get a dial tone. I have gone thru the manual to my best ability and found nothing that helps. Any other thoughts , or Does anyone have any other ideas. My next step is to throw the thing in th garbage ... I know it a updated model and our external page does not work either.. I was looking at avaya Partner R7 maybe ... I get get the KSU for $xxx.xxthen 5 phones for around another $xxx.xxbut I have to sell that to the boss.

**please no pricing in the forums.**edited for pricing**

Yes, move the jumpers to the proper settings for SLT.

Then program PGM # 38. as per the manual.

Before you do this, look and see how you have it program. Then program it right, and store that program by hitting the #

When you look at your program it will tell you you have a keyset assigned.

You said " a keyset works in port 7/8"

There are two flavors of 816 and they used different books.

The OLD 816 had a black cabinet and the manual had instructions for one doorphone.

The newer but discontinued for over five years 816 PLUS had a different manual and the ksu was beige. The manual for that one, the PLUS, showed two doorboxes.

To further complicate, there were 816 ksus that did not say PLUS on them and were beige.

The PAGING connections were different on the 816 and 816 PLUS, so if you could not do external paging, you probably have the wrong manual.

Which ksu do you have, an old black 816, a beige 816 WITHOUT the PLUS on the cover or an 816 PLUS?
