I've have an on going problem with a DCS with all but 3 phones out of 23 phones will stop transmitting voice. 2 of them will transmit but will not receive. 1 of them will do either. I can reset the exp alone and the problem will go away for a week maybe even a month or so. Rom version is 4.6, Cpm is 4.4 and the Lpm is 4.3. This only affects phones on the exp, none on the main cab are effected. I've tried replacing all 3 of my DLI cards, exp cab, exp A card, Exp B card, main cab, and rom. Swapped power supplies between the two cabs.

So except for the audio issues the phones work ok ie lines light up,intercom works etc?Can you call from phones within the expansion cabinet ok or does it affect everything? When you say you reset the expansion cabinet only what do you mean?If you reset, you should power up the expansion cabinet first so the main cabinet "sees it" when it powers up.What about power issues? Is there a UPS on the cabinets?

The transmit problem effects any call, intercom, CO line, and speaker phone . Yes they still function other than the described problems. Reset exp means I power it off then back on. Yes there is a ups on the system. It has been replaced as well. One more thing is that the main cab will click every 10sec then 5sec. A relay click but I can't determine where it comes from. Sounds like it comes from the cab and not a card. When I reset (power off then back on) the main cab, it stops. I don't know if they go together, but it will still do it after I reset the exp only and the phones start working correctly.

How about the coiled cord between the cabinets? I know that can't be stretched or zip tied too tight. If you haven't already, try replacing it and leave any excess length in a loose coil. I've seen this cause weird problems before.

Haven't tried that, but it is stretched out a bit and two zip ties on it. I was wondering if it was to cause problems. But I will try replacing it. It was the only part we didn't have in stock.

What other problems have you seen because of this?

As far as the click is concerned, do you have any SLI cards in the cabinet? Also check your trunk groups.

If you have all the trunks listed in a trunk group and you do not have dial tone to those trunks... the system will keep checking for dial tone after that trunk group has been accessed.

For example... trunk group 9 has trunks 701 through 708 as members. You only have dial tone for trunks 701 through 705 and someone presses 9 for an outside line. The system will check 708, 707 and 706 for dial tone. Since it didn't find dial tone on those trunks, it takes them out of service... however, it will intermittently keep checking for dial. That will cause a clicking sound.

When you do a reset it clears the system until the next time that trunk group is accessed.

Is that your problem... I don't know, but it could be causing the clicking noise you hear.

I've replaced the exp cable and I still have the problem with phones stop transmitting on the exp.

As far as the clicking, I think your right on that.

Thanks

Let me make sure I've got this correct...

The DLI cards that are having problems are in the expansion cabinet... correct?

The DLI cards in the main cabinet are working fine... correct?

If your SLI cards are in the main cabinet, try swapping the SLI card in the main cabinet with the DLI card in the expansion cabinet.

Also... please list the order of the cards in the main cabinet and the expansion cabinet.
