Hi All,

We are switching out our provider on our local pri t1. I need some help about what MMC's I may need to check and making sure it is configured correctly.

Some specific question I have...

1) Where is the pri switch type set (not seeing anything but in "PRI CONTROL")?
2) How is that card set for pri verses a non-pri line. Looking at the system we have other TEPRia cards that are non-pri and I am curious how you set it.
3) Is there a place to view/monitor the channels?
4) Any helpful cut-over advice.

Just unplug from your current provider and plug into your new one. Have them provision the same as your old pri and you will be all set.

telcom - I wish all that easy. Could you give some specific suggestions or answers. I am more concerned about having issue and not know what to do in the even the line is not provisioned exactly the same.

For the most part a PRI is a PRI. If you have a full PRI now and are getting another full PRI from a different carrier, you shouldn't need to make any changes.

With that said… most PRI's are setup as NI2, but this might be the only thing you need to change. You choices are NI1, 5ESS5, 5ESS9, 5ESS10, DMS100 or BELLCORE. If this setting needs changed you'll need to contact your vendor to have a technician make the changes.

I hate to jump on the band wagon here but... frown

Programming a PRI is not something a non certified tech should be doing. There are many many things that can go wrong so I understand your concern. But you really should have a tech onsite when this happens.

The LEC providing the circuit should have told you that. And they do so for good reason, they have many many years of failed cut overs to draw from for experience.

With that said, The only place you will see what is failing and why is in the error log. That log will tell you exactly the same thing as tap from the provider. Your alarms will be coded by color and severity. Unless you own a Tbird or other protocol analyzer there is nothing you will be able to do except tell the LEC "its down".

For the considerably low price for service call it will save you an untold amount of money and down time.

1),2)will not be explained in the open forum.
3) They error logs are the only place other than the face of the card.
4) Have the Telco and the vendor there at the same time. Once cut over Tax the card by simultaneously picking up all 23 channels and making a call if you can.

That is the concern of the telco, if they do not provision it as you ordered. They have to deal with it. It is only out of their hands after a successful cut (working circuit) :thumb:
