I would appreciate it if some could help me with this problem. Had cable installed a few days ago in a new place(not new house but new to me) the phone was acting fine right after the install i noticed the phone had loud humming noise also the caller ID will not work and when someone calls it will only ring once and disconnet. IF anyone can help i would really appreciate it.
Thanks Jason

The loud hum, sounds like you have a ground on the line somewhere. Best thing to do is to go to your D Mark ( usually the gray box the telephone company has installed on the outside of your house.) Plug you phone in there. There should be a mod connection on it. This will isolate you house wire from the telco. If the hum is still there call the telco. If its gone the problem is in the house somewhere. Best thing to do is call the telco and have them test it to the D mark. Some telco's will be able to test right away. If not tell them to test to the house. Unless your paying for them to service your wiring in the house. then just call them and tell them to put in a repair order. good luck. please fill oout your information all the way..... ------------------ WWW.THEBESTPHONESUPPORT.COM WWW.ABUGSEYEVIEW.COM [This message has been edited by BIGDOG3c (edited February 27, 2005).]
