I had to terminate some pre-run data cables soon after my second termination I thought I was going crazy. I then realized that the twists in the cable were reversed. Rather than clockwise it had come off the extruder counter clockwise. Luckily it was only six locations, after so many years untwisting pairs counter clockwise you realize how accustomed we are to doing things in a particular way.

Check the cable and it was some no name manufacturer. Anyone else run into this.

Yes, I have come across this just recently - the cable was twisted backward from the way it is usually twisted. And it took me a heck of a lot longer to terminate, too! :bang:

Mine was from Teledata, 25 pr.

Maybe it's left-handed cable? Geeze, finally something I can appreciate.

I encountered some it in the past 6 months as well. At first I thought I was loosing my mind. The jacket was not marked with a manufacturer name.

My mom called the hardware store the other day to ask if our left handed knife sharpener was working. It took me a minute to recognize her voice!

Even the water flushing down the toilets swirls the other direction in the southern hemisphere. I'm with Mike. laugh

Hey here's an interesting thought to ponder. If you had a 25 pair cable twisted properly, and you had to splice it to one of these that was going back the other direction, how would that effect the inductance? Do you think at the point where all the splices took place you'd get an increased instance of crosstalk? I wonder how the splice would look on a TDR assuming the velocity of propagation was the same for both cables, and the only difference was the direction of the twist?

Sounds like we need a visit from Bill and Ed.
