Hi guys, sorry if this is more appropiately posted in another area (Mods, feel free to move!)
We are relatively new ESI dealers, have recently installed our in house E Class. We have a Gen 1 DLC12 card.
We converted to PRI service with LDMI on Friday. They have an "integrated" product that is basically Internet and voice on a single T1. They call it PRI Plus.
They use a Cisco box to peel off the voice onto a PRI and then ethernet the IP out. When voice isn't in use, the bandwidth is available for Internet.
(We were on their Smart T product, which was basically the same thing, only they used an Adtran to peel the voice out onto POTS).
Anyway, everything is working fine except we are no longer getting CID name delivery, only CID number.
Reading back posts here and googling the problem, I've found that
A) you have to use NI-2 in order to get name data and
B) the cisco wonks up the PRI a bit, and requires some tuning.
ESI actually pointed me at a Cisco tech note that tells what has to be changed in the Cisco box.
The question for you guys -- have you experienced something similar, and if so, how was it resolved.
Incidentally, the link to the Cisco tech note is:

Which version of Esi-access are you using ?
The newer software won't let you program the Pri pilot numbers in unless You put something in the 'name field', If you do that, You won't see your CID info.
Go back in programming using the phone and get to the pilot number and when it asks for the name, press hold, and continue.
then it should work.

Good suggestion nonameyet. However, don't you have to use the scroll keys to erase a name in this case?

Pressing the Hold key is the only way, I know of deleting information not wanted in ESI

For deleting "typed" names (C.O. names, ext. names, etc.), I have always just used the scroll key to get past the first character, then press # to move on. This returns the name back to default.

We don't have line names programmed. The Caller ID name is coming up as "UNAVAILABLE"

OK, WHEW!!
So, after 2 conference calls with the telco and ESI, as well as some loud conversations with the telco and not a small amount of aggravation, this is fixed.
The problem came down to this:
The Cisco IAD 2431 has two ways to send the caller ID name during call set up. The first, and default, is by presenting the caller ID name as part of the display element. The second is to present the name as part of the facility element.
Apparently, most of the telephony equipment world uses both interchangeably, or default to the facility element message option. Once we (and "we" includes ESI Tech Support, myself, the telco's on-site technician, and a dialed-in Cisco engineer who I had to pay for) got the telco to change the presentation of the CID name to the facility element, it all works fine.
They were apologetic, of course, after pointing their finger for 4 days at my ESI switch... and I do rather enjoy seeing the telco with egg on their face, but man oh man what a frustrating couple of days.
ANYWAY
If any of you can shed more light on all of this, so I understand it better, that sure would be helpful. I did Google the terms, and there really isn't a lot of technical info with respect to PRI call setup information that I could find.

Hehehehe ... Like I said, we're new ESI dealers... This is our in-house system. I figured I would get 100% of everything figured out/ironed out/tweaked/etc. before I ever sold a system with a PRI to a customer. :-)
