I know this has been talked about on here before , I did a search and couldn't find anything. I have had several customers complain about there systems losing time, off by about 5-10 minutes.

All of the ESI's loose time, if you look at the new ESI-Access software there is a "clock trim" field in there to allow the system to correct itself every 30 days. I think 2.14.1 is the latest but check the reseller site.

Function F-14 clock settings now have the Clock Trim function and it's described as follows:

"This function controls the real time clock trim adjustment. Select a positive value if the clock is running slow or a negative value if the clock is running fast. The adjustment will occur every 30 day period."

I try not to assume anything but in this case I'm assuming these systems do not have Caller ID hence the reason we do not use the Auto Time Set feature?

Great, using EsiAccess go to system, then Date/Time then check the box where it says Automatic Time Set.

System clock will sync with CID time every time a call comes in. You will never have more than a 5 minute variance.

Many systems, including computers, have problems keeping time, so this isn't necessarily unique to ESI. Many systems have methods of automatic time correction, including synching to atomic clock, time server, CID time, or using a clock trimmer.

If they have CID, my guess is that automatic time (synch to CID) is not enabled, or CID time is not correct (which I have seen before, by the way). I believe automatic time is disabled by default, as is auto daylight savings time.

ESI-Admin software also has the option to sync the time with a PC on the network. If you have an adaminstator on that site that you would feel comfortable giving the Esi-Admin software to, they could periodically sync the ESI time to the time on their PC, which in a Windows AD domain, would all be synced to the Server of their domain anyway, so their PC's and phone time would be pretty close to identical. I do this myself, and my users like the fact that their PC time and phone times are usually almost identical. Sometimes it is a few seconds off, which can be expected. My AD Server is setup to sync with the Time Server @ the NIST in Colorado, which basically is the internet time server which pulls its time from the Atomic clock, so my phones and PC's are always "Right On Time!"
