I have an ESI E Class ivx 72e or 128e not sure.
anyhow I have a problem with some phones at different times.
can not dial out, dial, pick from hold etc on certain phones and certain times but if I unplug the phone form the system and wait about 10 seconds then plug it back in again it seems to reset / reboot the phone and it works well until the next time it is discovered that the phone needs unplugged.

any suggestions?
thanks
M

In my experience this is caused by link errors. The first thing to do is try another phone, for awhile. If that doesn't correct it, it could be the wiring(pinched cord or bad punch down). I haven't had that problem on the e-class, but I do have it a lot on the old 56s. Good luck

Using 4 conductor line cords can cause this problem also. Make sure you are using 2 conductor line cords on the phones, preferably the ESI ones that came with the phones.

Link errors due to the wiring, have had this many times. As SST said make sure that you are using the ESI provide line cord and that you are using a good 4-pair twisted from the jack to the system. Cat 3 or Cat 5E.

You can have your ESI Tech get ESI to dial in and check your whole system for link errors.

This could also happen if the cable runs are too short, under 50 feet from the cabinet. trick is add some crossconnect, make the cable longer.

Good point Steve. I have also had problems around large motors. I ended up having to run shielded cat5e grounded on both ends to fix that one.
