I am almost positive you need to be an ESI reseller to sell the product... call your ESI rep and find out if the competitor became a reseller.
If not it should be really easy to convince your prospect they would be better off buying an ESI system from a reseller who has access to tech support than one who doesn't.

Maybe they signed up to be a dealer. In Atlanta we probably have a dozen dealers. The days of protected territories are over, as all manufacturers just want to sell more boxes.

You would hope so....but so many buyers now just assume that they can buy from the cheapest price and then if they need service they can call a certified dealer. Of course the new dealer will not honor (and should not) the labor warranty, but they figure they can coast by until the labor warranty expires anyway since it will be a new system "and should not break or need service". If i ever lost a deal where i explained that my competitor was not certified and the prospect went with them anyway i would not service that system at any point in the future. So in this situation in an area with only one ESI reseller that person would have no options for service.
