The switch does have PoE capability but I just couldn't justify spending more money on the PoE cables from Polycom and the AC/DC adapter cables that I have now work just fine. So they require a special POE cable? Most IP phones just use a regular cable with a POE switch. Interesting if this is the case. Steve

Yes it is unfortunate but the Polycom IP501 will not utilize PoE without the PoE cable from Polycom, to be honest it took me some time to come to that conclusion as my experience with PoE has been that you just need to plug it in and have PoE enabled on that particular port.
