Yes, mainly because of the batteries. The customer always has good intentions of replacing those device batteries but if he fails to do it, eventually it means a false alarm. At least with a wired system, only one main battery, and most manufacturers have it set up now that when the A/C is out and the battery reaches 10 volts, the system shuts down quietly. No false alarms.

The other issue I have with wireless; you can set up a device with a good signal strength reading today, go back tomorrow, and the signal may be bad. It also sometimes prevents you from mounting a device in the optimum location. For example, a PIR sensor should always be mounted on an outside wall looking into the dwelling, not looking directly at the outside glass or doors. If you don't get a good signal in that corner, you will probably be mounting it in another "not so good" area with signal.

Besides that, I have all the fancy tools (drill bits up to 6 feet long, 3 different types of fish tapes, a 90 degree jig for drilling up a wall at the bottom plate, etc.) so I like the challenge of getting the wire to that spot!!

Most of the time I can have a wire fished to that location quicker than using a signal sniff test and playing around trying to find the best location.

Hey speaking of a challenge, I was able to get my cable to the second floor, Ran a multi pair and put in a zone expander. I used a hammer drill with a half inch bit to drill threw the double brick in the basement and into the top plate, then I was able to drill down from the attic, I did need to cut a small acces hole on the first floor to grab the snake and used my push rods from the attic down to pull my wires up, no Big deal the access hole is now a phone/data jack. It figures the most difficult house I have to work in is my own.

I Swear I did not touch anything bash
