I would like to learn how to change a direct line to a new extension. Typically, when my users change offices, I head over to our phone closet and swap the set of twisted pair wires. I imagine you can to it through station programming, but I never gave it a shot.

In my current situation, I have a user that will no longer need his phone line and a user (that only has an internal extension number), which would like to have his direct outside line.

Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

I checked the System Status Monitor, which told me the CO was 22 and the STAT was Ring (of course); the EXT had a left-handed arrow.

So what you need to do is change the ringing for line 22 in the A screen to the new extension that you want it to ring at.Also check the line access and remove it from the old station if it's no longer needed there. You can swap extensions around using the F screen without moving jumpers.

If it is a DID station number (probably is if you have more than 20 or so) - all programming is done in the Y A screen. Find the last X digits of the direct number (usually 4 digits) in 2nd column from left - read across and you'll find it mapped to a 4-digit extension. Enter the new extension and you're done. If it's not DID, it can be a bit more complex...

In Station Programming, under the 4 digit extention I selected: (z)ring to all lines, to see if that would work. After I did that, none of the lines in the building ring. Ooops. Any suggestions on this one?
