I completely believe you when you say that they were built to last forever, which is what attracts me to this technology so much in the first place. As my signature line declares, I am less then pleased with present day manufacturing. A product that has a life span of three months, is in my humble opinion, daylight robbery.

I just finished rewiring my orginal shoebox about an hour ago. It's not pretty! But I think everything will be ok, even though I'll be using the new one I just recieved. But I do want to perform a "smoke" test on the one I rebuilt, just to see if I did it right.

Actually I am debating if I'll even add music on hold in the end. I don't want to mess with my new KSU too much. I want it to last, as it was meant to. The music on hold would just be there too ammuse my friends anyway.

If you gently unwrap the factory wiring with needle-nosed pliers instead of using an unwrap tool, you should be fine. The pins just don't take kindly to being twisted back and forth.

Also, the factory wiring was made using soft-annealed tined copper which is much more flexible than standard copper wire. When wrapping with standard wire, more torsion is placed upon the pins. If you are using standard wire, you might want to consider wrapping it around gently with needle-nosed pliers instead. You only need to make a few wraps to secure the connection. MOH isn't a high-current application.

Matt said that I had to move a jumper on the 400E card to another position: "There is also a jumper that needs to be strapped appropriately on each of the K400E line cards. I can mail you a spec sheet on the cards if you'd like."

I see two or three jumpers on each card. Could someone tell me which jumper needs to be moved to a different position?

I finally got MOH working with the K403 enclosure smile

Since I'm using ITT 400E line KTU's, I put pin 1 K403 to pin 18 jack 1, pin 2 K403 to pin 14 jack 1 and so forth.

Another thing I did differently this time was that instead of wrapping pin 9 k403 to pin AB, I punched it on AB on the 66 block. Did the same for A ground.

It seems to have made a difference. In any event, I have pins 3/18 from my 401A intercom card wrapped to AG/AB on the back, so I didn't have a choice really.

And Matt was right, the music is not that loud at all. I guess that's because the music is being distributed to three slots instead of 1. When I had my San/Bar tuner FM tuner card just hooked up to slot 1, the music could crack an eardrum.

So, I now can say that I did it the RIGHT WAY! smile

Doesn't look to pretty mind you, all those wires dangling off the enclosure making their way to the back of the KSU, but hey!

I think I'm getting half a hand on this stuff! Of course, having a one month Christmas break helped! On Monday it's back to the salt mines, lol!

If you need , I probably have a 403a card that has the standard practices instructions with it that I could scan. And a 501 and 601 manual too; I seem to remember the 601 had moh instructions in it too.
