I reported a problem yesterday for one of my clients who had battery but no dial tone on one of their lines. I was told it would be repaired by 7 PM last night.
I checked with the client just after 5 PM to see if it had been done so I could could close my ticket and it wasn't, so I recalled Bell to get an update. I was told that he wouldn't be there until around 7 PM.
I called back at 8 PM and was originally told that the tech found that the problem was with my system. Nice try, lady, so she puts me on hold for a few minutes comes back to say that the tech had been there at 5:11 PM and that the problem was indeed outside, HOWEVER it was too dark to repair the problem.
"WHAT???? Bell techs are no longer issued flashlights, yet they work up to 8 PM or later if urgent?"
She assured me that she would escalate the repair for 1st thing this morning. Today it is pouring rain. Any bets they aren't issued rain suits either??? :bang: :nono:

Wow. That level of customer service is sad. Good luck!

I had something similar occur with a new customer yesterday. They called Verizon on Saturday because their main line was dead, but Verizon wouldn't send someone out until Thursday. Sure enough, they showed up and blamed it on the equipment. They called us to come out and we found nothing but battery on the line, so we referred it back to Verizon.
Verizon then had the audacity to state that they had already sent a technician out on Sunday and told the customer that it was an inside wiring problem. Funny, the customer isn't even open on Sunday. There is no way they could have come out because the place was locked up tight and the NID is indoors.
They sent a tech out again yesterday afternoon, but he said he can't do anything since their service is on pair gain equipment and he's not allowed to open the cabinet when it is raining.
They finally sent someone out again this morning to fix the line, which ended up being a problem in the central office.
This motorcycle shop is the biggest on in our area and does a huge volume in parts sales. They have been without their main line for almost a week because of Verizon's ineptitude. Never once did they offer to forward the main number or anything else that might have hinted at giving a crap about the customer. And I used to think that they were bad when they were Bell Atlantic.

Dave, could it be that the Quebec Workplace Health and Safety division is stopping Bell from working in the evening when its dark?
I know one insurance company here in Winnipeg that the safety manager has issued their IT staff reflective vests (like roadworkers use) to wear when going to the suburban offices to fix PC's etc.
The rational is they have to be seen by other drivers when crossing the parking lot to get to the office.

Nope, while Bell is under Federal charter, they don't have to abide by any Quebec law if they don't want to. They schedule their techs until at least 8 PM for I&R, so..... My thinking is that it was a lazy or useless tech combined with a worthless foreman that doesn't jump all over a tech like that. Bell seems to be loaded with both these days... With any luck at all it was the same tech dispatched the next morning and he also didn't have a rain suit....at least if there's any justice...

Makes total sense, probably losing too many geeks. If there is no school crossing guard those guys don't usually make it to the other side.

dave, bell is just lowering thier standards to compete with videotron. My friends mom switched to videotron for her phone last year. She calls me (using her cell) at her wits end, no dial tone for 3 days and videotron wont dispatch a tech. Videotrons excuse? Internet and television are working so the problem CANT be with thier equipment. They say it has to be inside wiring. I have the lady unplug all her phones and i check for continuity, no shorts, good sign. i then plug my butt set right into the modem, no dialtone just power. I call videotron, i explain the situation, she said then my phone has to be at fault. I try explain im not using one of the phones in the house, i brought a BUTTSET, she still didnt get it, she tells me to press reset bla bla bla. still nothing. I say to her im pulling the battery she gives me the standard shpeal about that causing problems. I do it anyways, wait a minute and boot back up, all of a sudden i have dialtone. After PROVING the problem was videotron i still couldnt get a financial fix for the lady. At least when my phone line was yanked out of my wall i called bell to find out if they would cover the day my internet was down as well as the phone, they credited me 1 day telephone and one month internet.
