Do I research every client on an on-going basis? No, however, I have seen soooo many companies flake out and belly-up [read that as: CRASH AND BURN]since I began in this industry...and that was only 20 some odd years ago.

Update:
It turns out they changed bank accounts and this cheque was issued on an old account. New cheque arrived with NSF charges paid as well.
