I will say it a different way:

Any corporation, especially a large one, and more especially one that deals with communication equipment, should know enough to transfer and/or forward telephone calls, after bugging out from a well-known market.

Arthur,

I know exactly what you mean. That Long Island City location was great. Had everything in stock and people who knew our business. They close that and Hauppauge and don't forward the numbers? Is that stupid or what. Anyway they are in Garen City now. No more counter just order takers and they ship to you. We use TW Comcorp in Farmingdale. Good guys. Ask for Joe if you don't already use them.

By now I am sure the tourist have left Shelter Island and the place is getting quiet.

I had no idea that TW Comcorp was still around. We used them years ago and I thought that they were gone.

I have very few complaints with Graybar except for price. For the most part I am willing to pay a bit more becasue I do get great service and good terms from the Norfolk Branch that I have worked with since 1985.

I remember when I use to order Comdial equipment from them (back when it was made in the US and ever part was dated) and some equipment would be over 12 months old. I would not order a telephone system from them even if they gave 20 points off.
I ordered some Vodavi phones that apparently had been on their shelves for over 10 years from the date codes.

When I first started my business Graybar wouldn't give me the time of day. Cablelan Products in Norfolk MA gave me net 30 on a handshake. I like people who still value a deal on a handshake.

Several months ago a close friend of mine wanted three NEC DSX phones for their office.
I contacted Graybar – found out my “Old Rep” was no longer on staff, However my new
would be more than happy to help….. I gave her the exact NEC part number and she
said I’ll call you when the phones come in.

Few days later I get a call from Graybar Will Call: “Your phone order is in”!
The counter rep hands me the paper work and I’m stunned…..
My new sales rep ordered THREE NEC DSX Kits that included 9 DSX phones, 3 DSX 40 KSU’s and 3 Intramails. Great!!!!!
Here is the good part….. I want to talk to my “new sales rep” …….. Sorry, she’s is
no longer employed by Graybar. Can somebody else help you…..Cancel everything……
I’m going to ADI.

I had the exact same horror stories with Graybar as all of you have described. I changed the way I ordered from them. I used to call the Graybar Sales Rep. and verbally tell him what I needed. Now, I only place orders via Fax and emails. They still screw up orders from time to time but not anywhere close the how it use to be. But when they screw up, they have it in writing what I order and they have to eat the cost of coming to pick up the materials, I will not return anything to them unless they come get it.
They began to slow down on the frequency of screw ups.
