I try not to do business with venders who sell to the end user (at or near the same same price I get). Power and Tel does that also. I have been using Target Distributing and my rep is Thoran.

It's been interesting to see the activity this topic has received. While I have commented that I seldom use them today because of pricing and sales to end users, The Minneapolis Graybar operates a separate Telecom / Communication branch that is staffed with very good people. I seldom experienced any of the trouble that many of you have. I want to stand up and applaud their local reps and I would be comfortable calling several of them my friends.

I agree with Dave. I order almost exclusively thru Graybar, and my contacts are those out of the Minneapolis office. Very good people who have always treated us well.

I use Graybar as a last resort. Prices are high and most of the counter people could care less if you walked in the door. They are real gems with a nasty attitude. I have a hard time giving some one my money that treats me that way. I buy most of my cable etc. from ADI and systems from my distributor.

I just called Graybar for some wiremold and they were cheaper than the local distributor I go to. Plus they are right by my office. I guess it just varies.

I have never had to wait at a counter longer than at my local branch, and for no good reason either.

The sad part is, a lot of my work is for nationals, and they insist fairly regularly that I use Gaybar because they all have accounts with them, and they want will-call pickups.

My ADI branch is located right next door though. I can usually grab a number from the Gaybar counter, walk over to ADI, get my truck stock, get a coffee and go back over to gaybar before they even know I left.
