The last time my Inter-tel dealer came, he charged me $300 to make a phone not ring. Being a programer I was looking over his shoulder. It appeared to be a simple ascii text file, uploaded to the phone's CPU (KSU) that he modified.

Is this something I can do without being a "rocket scientist"?
Is the software available?

Thanks
Chuck

Yes this is something you can do. There is no special software needed. All you need is a 25 pin male to 9 pin female connector (you can get them at any computer store) and just use either Hyper terminal or Procomm Plus to communicate.

Thanks RCA. I already have a db9 cable that I use to communicate with a communications controller and I am using Procomm Plus.

How do I decipher the script? There must be some instruction to make heads or tails out of what I am seeing.

Thanks again

Set Procomm for: 4800 baud, data bits 8, parity none, stop bits 1. After connecting the cable press enter, you should see the initial disclaimer scroll up the screen. If not then change the baud rate, 4800 is the max. After you connect its pretty straight forward, its all menu driven. Once you connect, post back and we should be able to walk you through a simple programm change like making a phone ring.
