OK, I've done this a lot, backing up an SBX. It's done in LDK Utility and you can't be in LAN connect. I was unsuccessful this last Friday, 12-9, on site with an ethernet cross over cable. I can do the LAN connect without issues, but when I disconnect from the LAN and try to connect with LDK Utility and start the download, I get an error message indicating the connection was unsuccessful. I spoke with T.E. at Vertical, she's the best!, but she could not help. Said it was an IP issue. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks, Jim

Are you connecting remotely (through the WAN) or are you on-site?

Did you verify that the SBX has been assigned the Gateway address as well? Even though it should work without a DG, I've had them do strange things when it is not programmed.

Are you plugging into the SBX directly?
You probably have a different ip address in the backup.
Click on the down/upload, when the first window pops up, you will see the ip address about 2 bars down. I assume this is different than the address assigned to the SBX you're currently working on.
When you do a backup, and go to another sbx and start to perform a backup, it will retain the ip address and the name of the file from the last back/upload you did.
It's very easy so I'm going to bank that this is your issue. Make sure you change the file name before you do the backup!

Thanks to nfcphoneman and to dtcd21. I checked the IP address in the down/upload bar and it was correct. And yes I was on site using 192.168.1.1 as the KSU address. My laptop was 192.168.1.2. No trouble connecting with PCAdmin. I am aware that you have be sure of the download destination path. I don't have remote connection to the SBX via IP yet, but will be on site again next week. I will double check the address and path. Thanks again!
Jim
P.S. I just did a successful back up on my office SBX from my home PC and think I may have made a wrank, amateurish mistake on site! Thanks again for the insite.

I am having a problem with this as well, at a site I just installed. I put the system in the DMZ of the router(we manage the router). The SBX ip address is 10.10.10.2. If I do a backup through their network it works fine, but if I do one from the internet via their public IP it fails? I can program perfectly fine through the public but just cannot backup the system??

Sounds like a firewall setting is blocking uploading of files of a certain size or is it possible you need to change a file transfer setting on your pc?
