Hi All,

Does anyone know where I can find (Or does anyone have a copy of) the Inter-tel 8662 (P/N: 550.8662E) firmware? I've been looking everywhere and have been unable to locate it.

I have some phones that have an old version of the firmware, and I believe the current version only allows SIP mode only, where as version 2 and greater support SIP and ITP mode (Which I need).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dan

If your phone is currently flashed for SIP there is a completely different method in re-flashing it with the 8662 firmware. I would recommend contacting your dealer for the software and assistance.

Investigations in the UK, seem to indicate that providers doing Mitel stuff are being discouraged from being told how to do this - i.e they'll get banned form working with Mitel!

As a result I have 22 8662 Phones sat on a shelf gathering dust because I cannot use them with an Intertel 5400.

I really would like to know how to convert them.
I know it can be done as I have a few 8662E's that work (came from E-Bay)

Out of the IP Devices Manual:

To change the modes on Models 8600, 8620/8622, and 8662, do one of the following:
• Dialpad: To switch to SIP mode, power up the endpoint with 1 and 2 pressed on the
dialpad. To switch back to ITP mode, hold down 5 and 6 on the dialpad while powering
up.

Unfortunately the 1+2 / 5+6 / 7+8 combinations have no affect on these phones, I believe this to be the case on the older firmware. If they were on a more recent version I believe those would then work.

So in summary we got a hold of newer firmware, but to get to 2.x.x.x you have to somehow upgrade them to: 1.01s, 1.031, 1.0.33 or 1.1.5. Ours where at 1.1.1.2, and going from there to 1.1.5 resulted in a Bricked Phone.

What is really annoying is that our unusable 8662V2 E's and P's clearly state [on a label] that they had version 2.x.x.x installed: however the phones own interfaces didn't match up. They appear to have been downgraded frown

The rest of the phones will be going back to the place they came from!

I seem to be seeing a goodly few 8662's appearing for sale of late in the UK, most of which turn out to be E's and most of which appear to be being sold by suppliers who don't know what a Mitel CS 5xxx system is.

- so watch out..I had spares, you may not.

Regards

Simon
