That definitely looks like a 1A2 compatible phone, especially with the amphenol connector.

But... as a general rule, any Military phone with a TA- number higher than 1000 is a digital phone, intended to connect to a Military digital switch. That phone is a TA-1025/G.

On the other hand, I can find exactly ZERO information on it, either on the global web thingie or in any of the printed manuals I have here. So I can't say for sure either way - maybe it is in fact 1A2 compatible.

If you can buy it for five bucks, take a chance. But if it bids up to 500 dollars, then I would insist on seeing some pics of the inside before buying. It may be possible to figure out what it is by looking at a good picture of the guts.

The only Autovon equipment and circuits that I've worked with have been four-wire, as in separate transmit and receive. I'm sure that this set can be modified to emulate 1A2, but I seriously doubt that it would be plug/play compatible.

The base and housing look to have been manufactured by Stromberg-Carlson.

I have a few examples of that phone, NIB. The 25-pair shielded cable uses a color code that is no way near 1A2 or any other commercial scheme. As an example, the first pair is the power supply pair, with -24 on the Tip and GRD on the Ring.

It is for use only on 4-wire ckts, and uses concentration to get things to work.

Taking the cover off will just frustrate you. The entire phone is one giant PCB attached to the underside of the faceplate. Two of our clever friends in the phone collecting community who delight in reverse-engineering phone oddities have been working on a diagram of this model for several months, as time allows. No Harris practices (or in this case, DoD TM's) seem to be available.

If anyone wants the spreadsheet version of the pin-outs, (or one of the phones) please email me privately. If you snuck a copy of the diagram out of a missile silo during a high school tour, please let me know. Your secret will be safe with me, honest.
